SEARCH Homeless Services Ribbon Cutting of New Headquarters
SEARCH Homeless Services celebrated the opening of its new headquarters with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1712 Pease Street in downtown Houston. The new facility marks a major milestone in SEARCH’s continued commitment to providing long-term solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness across the Houston region.
The project includes a 53,000 square foot multi-level expansion and renovation designed to support SEARCH’s growing operations and evolving service model. Campus improvements provide new office and program space, expanded parking, and improved connectivity between new and existing facilities, creating a more functional and welcoming environment for clients, staff, and community partners.
“Buildings are never just buildings,” said Alexis, Chief Executive Officer of SEARCH Homeless Services. “They are places where people arrive carrying uncertainty and hope, believing that the door they walk through might change their life. This new headquarters was built with dignity, care, and long-term solutions at its core, and it exists for one reason: to help people find a place to call home.”
The new headquarters reflects years of planning, partnership, and community investment. What began as a necessary relocation became an opportunity to intentionally design a space that supports collaboration, stability, and long-term impact.
“This space reflects our responsibility to ensure SEARCH has the infrastructure it needs to serve Houston not just today, but well into the future,” said Roger, Board Chair of SEARCH Homeless Services. “This building exists because of deep partnerships and a shared belief that investing in people requires investing in the systems that support them.”
The project team included Construction Manager Bart Morey, O’Donnell Snider Construction, and Architect Tramonte Studio, working closely with SEARCH leadership to ensure the facility aligned with the organization’s mission and operational needs.
“At every step of the design, we returned to SEARCH’s mission of hope, opportunity, and transforming lives,” said Jason Tramonte of Tramonte Studio. “This building may have started as lines on paper, but it was shaped by purpose, partnership, and the belief that this space will serve people and this community for generations.”
“We are incredibly grateful that SEARCH trusted O’Donnell Snider with this project,” said David Payne of O’Donnell Snider Construction. “What began as a contractor relationship became a true partnership, and it is an honor to help bring a facility to life that will support SEARCH’s mission and the people they serve for years to come.”
SEARCH Homeless Services has served the Houston community for decades, evolving from emergency response efforts into comprehensive housing-first solutions supported by wraparound services. The new headquarters reflects evolution and reinforces SEARCH’s commitment to dignity, care, and long-term stability.
“When people walk through these doors, we want them to feel intention, dignity, and care,” Alexis added. “This building belongs to our clients, our staff, our partners, and our community. Welcome to SEARCH. Welcome home.”
