The Museum of Fine Arts engaged O’Donnell/Snider Construction (OSC) in the relocation of their Hirsch Library from the Caroline Weiss building to the basement level of the Beck Building. The project commenced with demolishing an existing restaurant floorplan in the lower level of the Beck Building, followed by the construction of the new library layout incorporating the existing full height glass entry and exits to the basement level. The scope included protection of an existing artwork chandelier while renovating an existing kitchen to administrative offices and support areas. The library renovation also includes a collections room with sliding shelves, custom built integrated lit book shelving, a rare books area, and a large lobby with a circular reception desk.
