It was necessary to take a phased approach to the project in order to complete the scope of work without disrupting the normal flow of the building.
Our team switched back and forth between working nights and days in order to accommodate the building as needed. Improvements were made to the fixtures and finishes in the deli area concurrently with the lobby and while the business continued to operate during its standard business hours. Because the building remained occupied during our work, our team sectioned off the space in the lobby into temporary corridors, so that any person passing through the lobby had a simple, safe access hallway. While we upgraded the elevators, one elevator was left available for tenant use and a temporary corridor led directly to it. After we completed work on the rest of the elevators, we flipped the temporary corridor and made all but the one elevator accessible while we completed work in this section. The high end stone in the lobby space had to be book matched, which required our teams to cut it specifically to make the pattern match in one continuous line. The way we cut the stone made it one of a kind and no other space that uses this same product will have the same final look. This custom, unique stone feature is a true hallmark for the space. In the elevators, we ordered new wood specifically to match a special species as designated by the architect and building owner. We then painted the elevator base to match the special-order wood. This project was completed on schedule.
