A Multifunctional Surgery Center

O’Donnell/Snider Construction has recently completed construction services on the HCA Healthcare Texas Orthopedic Hospital project. The scope of work involved the renovation on levels 2, 3, and 5, along with the buildout of the 4th level shell space into a new surgery department. Level 2 received renovations to the existing locker room and lounge and 496 square feet of support space was converted into storage. On level 3, patient rooms were converted to observation rooms, while a portion of the existing observation rooms were renovated into storage as well. The 5th level consisted of renovation to patient rooms to allow the creation of new mechanical shafts required for the new surgery department on the floor below. The scope included a 32,000 ton AHU which required OSC to coordinate with the City of Houston to close down a portion of Highway 90 approaching The Medical Center. This was needed so the AHU could be lifted to the roof for final install. The project included intense pre-planning with facility operations to coordinate multiple major campus-wide MEP utility outages that were successfully completed with zero interruptions to patient care and facility operations.
