O’Donnell/Snider Construction (OSC) completed the renovation of the Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Madison Monroe Educational Building, modernizing the existing two-story, 40,000-square-foot facility to create a safer, more functional learning environment while extending the life of the campus infrastructure. The comprehensive educational facility renovation enhances the building’s performance and supports the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff.
The project included full hazardous material abatement, selective demolition, and the complete replacement of the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology (MEPT) systems. Structural improvements reinforced the existing building and accommodated the installation of a new enclosed sky bridge connecting the Madison Monroe Building to the adjacent Monroe Building, improving campus accessibility and circulation. Interior renovations transformed classrooms, faculty offices, and common areas with new flooring, ceilings, lighting, and architectural finishes, creating flexible learning environments designed to support modern teaching methods and technology integration.
Renovating an active college facility required detailed preconstruction planning and close coordination to minimize disruptions to campus operations. Throughout construction, OSC collaborated with Lamar State College Port Arthur and the design team to address unforeseen structural conditions, maintain the project schedule, and safely execute work within the existing campus environment while preserving the integrity of the facility.
